Trattoria Osti Matti – Authentic Roman Dining Experience in Rome

You HAVE to visit this place! We were in Rome a week ago and this was our favourite restaurant out of all. We went there twice, we're only sorry we didn't go even more. A restaurant experience truly like no other. The host was telling us about his family's wine, teaching us how to eat like Romans, asking us where we're from and talking about his experience in our country. It felt like having dinner at your friend's place who's teaching you about his culture. Three hours flew by. The food was excellent. We especially recommend the cheese plate which our host explained how to eat and how to combine the flavours. Their pasta was delicious and the desserts flawless. We really do not have a single complaint. We recommend visiting during the week because on the weekends they're pretty packed, so the host understandably doesn't have enough time for each guest individually. During the week it was more calm and intimate. If we ever go back to Rome, we're going straight back to this place. Thank you for the memory we will forever cherish. I can recommend this restaurant. The menu was only in Italian, and the people around us were mostly Italian, which means it's not a typical tourist spot. The prices were quite average for an Italian restaurant in Rome. The waiter/owner was very nice, funny and chatty :)

The food here was outstanding. This place is a keeper. When we return, this will be our first stop. The taste of each dish was flavorful and excellent. We were searching for a Mom & Pop restaurant with great and authentic food… we found it!!

If you haven’t been to this restaurant yet, you absolutely must visit it. You’ll be greeted by a wonderfully friendly host who will advise you on what to order — and his recommendations are a true story about food. The atmosphere is very warm and family-like. The food is delicious, and you’ll definitely find something you’ll love. I had the pork tenderloin here, and it was amazing. If you decide to come, it’s worth making a reservation — it’s hard to just walk in and find a free table, except maybe during the week. On weekends, it’s nearly impossible.

Few restaurants will make you feel instantly like a neighborhood regular while making you wish you actually were one. This charming spot does both. The owner is gregarious and welcoming and the very best of Italian hospitality. The food is lovely and very good value (do not miss out on the pork shank - it is falling off the bone and positively delightful). Thank you for a lovely experience and a beautiful meal. Highly recommended and definitely would repeat.

The owner generously opened up the restaurant for my EF Ultimate Break tour group on a Wednesday evening for our farewell dinner. Did not disappoint. I learned a lot more about proper Italian food and what it takes to have a successful marriage (you just had to be there).

Wow, we got introduced to Italia. The owner made sure we were explained all the dishes. Pecorino dei Monti Sibilini e Parmigiano Reggiano a scaglie con miele e marmellate . Our mouths were well versed with cheese. The homemade wine complimented our food. Stinco di Maiale di Modena and spaghetti. If you are in Roma, you have to stop here. You we be glad you did. Make sure you make reservations as they get busy.

Great food, great service!! Owner was very helpful and friendly to American tourists. If you’re in the neighborhood, you can’t miss this place. Menu is only in Italian. Other customers are only Italian—great signs of a local hangout and food. Highly recommend.
